DHPL is a family-run company with a mission to maximise hydroelectric power generation.
This is achieved through our own generating portfolio, as well as services provided to others.
Founded in 1988, DHPL was a pioneer of the modern-day green energy movement.
Focusing initially on industrial sites in the Derwent Valley, Derwent Hydro developed unique knowledge and experience designing, installing, refurbishing and operating hydroelectric power facilities.
The business has enjoyed continual growth since inception, and continues to thrive. Having started from a small home-office, DHPL currently operates from Masson Mills in Derbyshire.
This fantastic location is a key part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site.
We are powered by clean electricity, produced by one of our turbines, and enjoy the building’s heritage; which we share through our Visitor Centre and Textile Museum.
We are always interested in opportunities to increase our generating portfolio whether that is through new developments, acquisitions or joint ventures; and love to connect with other hydropower operators and enthusiasts.
